The Kyles of Bute is famous for its boating and historical connections with the sea as the main route for steamers and puffers to access the west coast of Scotland. Make sure you do not miss an opportunity to get out onto the water.
DC Marine is owned and run by an ex-mariner Donald Clark. You will be in very capable hands. His pretty converted fishing vessel the MV Morag will take you out fishing or wildlife watching around the Kyles.
The boat can accommodate ten passengers with regular set departures times or you can book to charter the whole boat for periods of one hour. Trips of over one hour include the opportunity to try your hand at fishing for mackerel, pollock, saithe, cod and codling. All the necessary fishing gear is carried on board. Enthusiastic anglers can charter the boat purely for fishing expeditions and visit the best fishing grounds in the area.
Operating from the pier in Tighnabruaich, Morag is the only locally owned and run boat trip provider in the Kyles of Bute.
The last going paddle steamer in the world, The Waverley, visits Tighnabruaich during the summer months, calling at Tighnabruaich pier a couple of times a week. The engine room is exceptional and well worth a visit. The Waverley is a much loved and cared for boat and the noise of her paddles beating towards the village is always a welcome sound.
