Frequently asked questions

Is Carry Farm near a village?

Our architect designed lodges are situated on a private site a couple of miles south of the pretty village of Tighnabruaich and are accessed off a quiet single track road.

how close to the beach are the lodges?

The lodges are very close to the shore, around 30 metres, with a bed of wild Iris’s between them and the beach.

Are there steps up to the lodges?

Access is via steps at the front of  the lodges which takes you onto the spacious balcony to the front door.

Can I park my car beside the lodge?

Our smaller lodges Heron and Buzzard have space for one car adjacent to the lodge. The larger lodge Sandpiper has space for two cars. If you require additional space, please speak to Derek or Fiona.

is there wifi or phone reception?

All our lodges have wifi which operates over the mobile 4G network. Vodafone is definitely the best at Carry Farm, but you will also find spots where EE and O2 work if you wander around the point!

Are the lodges suitable for couples?

Absolutely, the lodges are popular with couples looking for a quiet and relaxing break. And given we are only 2 hours from Glasgow, we often have couples coming away to ‘work’ for a few days, enjoying the location and views whilst also keeping up with the office! We offer a couples discount on the normal rates, recognising the reduced occupancy.

Do you welcome dogs at Carry Farm?

We welcome up to two dogs per lodge at a cost of £30 each per stay. Carry Farm is a working farm and we appreciate considerate dog owners keeping them on a lead, especially near the yard where our free range hens like to wander! Once you are down on the beach, your dog is free to run around and enjoy the space. We have gates on our balconies allowing you to have your dog outside with you, without it escaping whilst you enjoy the views!

Where is the nearest electric vehicle charging point?

Tighnabruaich has an electric vehicle charging point currently being installed in the car park 100 metres past the village. Enjoy the local Tighnabruaich Gallery and cafes whilst you wait.

is your bay safe for wild swimming?

Our bay is perfect for a dip in the sea. The shore has a very shallow gradient and is lovely and sandy once the tide passes the stoney section near the top of the beach. There are no tidal currents to worry about. It is frequently used in the summer by our local wild swimming group.

Where is the nearest grocery shop?

We have a fantastic local shop 3 miles away with local produce and fresh fruit and veg, open 7 days a week. It would be fantastic if you could support it as much as possible.

Do you have a local petrol station?

We do! Mark and Barbara open our tiny petrol station on the shore side of the road near the village 5 days a week. Bear with them if they are not open early as they also do the school bus runs and some of the local services!

Do you allow family groups?

We have 3 lodges,  adjacent to each other, making them  ideal for a group of families who would like to holiday together within their own private accommodation.  Heron and Buzzard lodges sleep 4 each, and Sandpiper sleeps 6.
