A room with a view

If you have walked along our shores before, you will be familiar with the ‘KLEEPING’ noise of the Oystercatcher defending their territory as they wade at low water searching for cockles and mussels. However at this time of year, their behaviour is a little different and they become experts in deception as they endeavour to lead walkers on a merry dance away from their stoney nests. As they slink quietly away from the nest attempting to remain as inconspicuous as possible, they are strangely nonchalant as they desperately try to convince us they have nothing precious to protect.

We don’t stop for long to admire the well camouflaged eggs, we cannot communicate with the birds to let them know their secret is safe with us. So we walk on and let them return to their room with a view and hope that their cunning deception produces another brood of baby Oystercatchers at Carry Farm.
